Cómpeta is a very beautiful village, which has kept some of its original Moorish style with narrow and steep streets, and the most stunning views over the Mediterranean Sea and mountains. The village has a huge variety of restaurants, bars and cafés – the little square (Plaza Almijara) by the church – being the main center and meeting point of the village. In addition you will find a good selection of shops and supermarkets, banks, pharmacies and a 24-hours medical emergency service. Cómpeta is moreover famous for its sweet wine, the locally grown olives, almonds and figs which can be found all over the area. In the outskirts of the town you will find an old olive mill, La Recíproca, which produces and sells an awarded olive oil.

Every Saturday there is a local market in the village, with fruit and vegetables, local crafts, organic products and much more. All year round a big number of holidays, festivals, exhibitions and events are arranged/celebrated – such as: Easter and ”Walk of art”, ”Feria” the town festival at the end of July and ”Noche del Vino” the night of wine in the middle of August – being some of the highlights.

The nearest villages are Canillas de Albaida, Canillas de Aceituno, Salares and Archez and can be reached by car or bike, or if you are a trained hiker – by foot. These small cosy Andalusian mountain villages are very authentic and have each their own charm.
